The best places to exercise in Mexico City

Keep working on your New Year’s resolutions! If you want to continue exercising even when you are traveling, Mexico City has many options. You only have to worry about packing some good sneakers.

We already wrote about where you can find the best running tracks in the city, but if you are one of those people who prefer to try new things, there are many trends in the fitness world that you can experience here in Mexico. Here’s our list of the best places where you can meet your daily training dose.

Síclo and Velocity

How about a class in which you can burn about 700 calories sitting on a bike? Síclo and Velocity are indoor cycling studios that incorporate the new trend of dark rooms, rhythmic lights and loud music while a coach does not let you rest for a minute during an intense training session. It is a perfect class for bike lovers who cannot bring them on every trip. If you are a beginner don’t worry, it is first-time friendly. You only have to put on your shoes, anchor them to the bike and start pedaling. Try it!  They have many branches throughout the CDMX. If you want to schedule an appointment, download their app or check out thieir websites. They have discounts if it is your first class

Skate parks

Whether you are an expert skater or not, going to a skate park, even as a spectator, is always super fun. In Mexico City there are many of them and they’re all free. Some even let you rent the equipment there and, yes, you have to wear a mandatory helmet. You can find our favorites in:  The

Parque Urbano de Constituyentes (Av. De los Compositores 1505) which is the largest in the city’s capital with more than two hectares of land and can receive up to 200 skaters. And not only that, it also has large green areas, picnic tables and a beautiful fountain.

The Mexicana Park in Santa Fe (Lomas de Santa Fe, Contadero), although it is much smaller, it has all the charm of a modern park. It has ramps, railings, stairs and a bowl for stunts. In addition, the park offers many other activities such as a running track, many restaurants, an amphitheater, dog areas and bicycle rental area.

Pilares Park

If you are looking for something much calmer and traditional, Parque de Pilares (Heriberto Frías 921) is just for you. Located in one of the most classic colonies of Mexico City, it is perfect to spend a Sunday seeing what local families do in their free time. It has a track for walking and running, but the best is everything else. It has an outdoor gym, basketball courts and games for children. In addition, on weekends they have activities such as trampolines, food sales and puppy adoption areas. It is perfect for outdoor exercise because it is fully equipped. Its surroundings stand out for offering a wide variety of shops and restaurants.

Commando Studio

If you like intense workouts, but you don’t want a bike, Commando is just what you were looking for. They have two modalities: Bootcamp and Workshop. Bootcamp is 60 minutes of physical activity in a group class that is designed to make you burn up to 1,000 calories per session and focuses on toning your body. The workshop is 60 minutes of muscle mass building and strength. All classes are taught by professional coaches who push you to reach your full potential to the rhythm of the music.  In Mexico City you find it in Santa Fe, Polanco, Interlomas and Pedregal. Check their schedules, prices and book your classes on their page.
